Tuft of Elvis Presley's hair from famous army haircut set to be sold

A tuft of Elvis Presley's famous quiff haircut is set to go under the hammer. The lump of 51-year-old hair was shorn from Elvis when he joined the U.S Army back in 1958. It is expected to fetch up to $12,000 when it is auctioned in Chicago, Illinois, on October 18. The hair is part of a personal collection of Elvis memorabilia being sold by one of his close friends, Gary Pepper. Also being sold off by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers are original artworks, autographed record sleeves and photographs of Elvis. One set of pictures comes from the May 29, 1967 wedding reception of Elvis and Priscilla in Memphis,Tennessee. The collection could sell for $1,200. Also being sold is a red ultrasuede shirt worn by Elvis in a 1963 pin-up picture issued by RCA. It is expected to sell for up to $4,000.
