Pop singer Miley Cyrus took a break from her busy schedule to visit children right here in the mountains.

Kids from Hazard Independent Schools threw their hands up for Miley when she walked into the forum with her dad, Billy Ray, Thursday afternoon.

Cyrus was there as part of the Blessings in a Backpack program, which she sponsors, here locally. She provides food for 425 kids in the school district to bring home for the weekend. Cornett says Cyrus will increase funding to bring snacks to a total of 600 kids for the next school year.
